If you want the perfect shine on your car, it’s important to give it the perfect wash. And any car aficionado will tell you that the pros don’t take their cars to the carwash, they wash their cars by hand. To do that, you’ll need auto wash supplies.

The first thing to consider when buying car wash supplies is what type of body your car has. I’m not talking about shape here, I’m talking about composition. A different detergent is required for cars with a metal exterior such as the early classic muscle cars. They require rust protection from their wash and will look their best for far longer if they get it. Or maybe your car was part of the fiberglass revolution and has an exterior made of that. You want to make sure your detergent won’t chemically weaken your car’s body. If you have a truly lightweight carbon fiber body, you want a wash that will clean it without leaving a residue.

Regardless of the type of body, you’ll want to follow a good wash with a wax. Auto wax forms a protective barrier against dust and sun fading that will keep your car looking better, longer. Other auto wash supplies include wheel shiner, and of course glass cleaner. The metal of your wheels and the glass on your car require a different chemical make up to get a spot free finish, so there are products made specifically for them.
